Mobile Picture Branding ~ Are we there yet?

Picture it Forward

I’m not telling you something you probably didn’t already know, but yes, I’m bringing up the subject of Instagram.

Today’s mobile shopper is looking at picture products.  Going to the brand pictures familiar with shopping, ie: Target, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and more.  Product branding, as I’ve mentioned is so important for your Small Business on the internet.  Branding by pictures is just as important.  Instagram is new on the mobile horizon, but is expected to move right on up to compete with social media as we now know it.

A product of Facebook, Instagram is seeing a rise in consumer signup over the past few months.  More and more consumers are using the Instagram App, available on iPhone and Android, as they are using Facebook, Twitter, Google* and Pinterest.

Marketing studies reflect that 80 million consumers are being ignored. Sound like a fair number that can be pulled your way, right?  Also, sounds like there’s a need for you to get on board the mobile speed train and get off the platform. Are you up to making the changes necessary to jump ahead?  This is your ticket to get your photos noticed, your products seen and stop hitching a ride on the marketing tail when you can be at the head, seeing the potential future and destiny of your store.

Everyone in the retail business as we know, started with a Small Business store or idea, but it’s growth and insight that have led the “giants” of our day, to the forefront.  Don’t be left behind due to lack of information, potential and positive energy.  You don’t have to have a mega marketing budget to get just as much as the big guys, but you do have to think smart about what are the marketing options around you that can be used to increase awareness about your business.

If you are not including Instagram ( a FREE marketing social tool) as part of your social media strategies, which should be a part of your overall marketing campaign, you are missing out on a golden opportunity.  Instagram is world wide, think of all the people missing out by not seeing you, so snap that photo and let’s see your goods!

I am soooo….behind the times! I don’t even have a smart phone! So… right now this would not do me any good. But hopefully that will change soon! I am in the market for a new phone…just not sure which one and what kind of plan to fit my budget. My youngest daughter has the Instagram app on her IPad and she is always on it and loves it.

Deborah, the Labor Day sales are one of the good times to check out upgrading your phone. One thing I’ll suggest, make sure you are going stright to the phone store, not a dealer. The dealer’s have an upcharge for connecting you to the main phone service, ie: Sprint, ATT&T, and others. I suggest you look at Metro, if you have that service in your area, you can get a phone, and a set rate, with all inclusive plus features. ATT&T, has a data limit, then charges you after you reach that limit. With today’s mobile shoppers, you want to be able to have that option for your store. Buy a plan that gives you unlimited features and you will come out saving in the end.

I just started using Instagram about a week ago. Specially since my camera got smashed by the kids. I love using it. Thank you for the article and the information!

So one takes a picture with one’s phone then sends it? How does one add the web address for promotion purposes, or do I need to go get the app to understand it?

MCatherine, my instagram is connected to my webpage. when you sign up, you can designate your profile. then you just take pictures of your items and it auto sends out to the world, if someone searches for shopping, heart….. you will pop up in the mix 🙂 Same with jewelry, i’m searching for bead bracelets, and wow, lots of them out there. Or vacation spots, you can have a great time just looking, like Pinterest. From what I understand, clicking on the picture gives you information about the person so folks can follow you! I love it!

Gaye, Technology is going to get us all. What we are now understanding, our grand children know it first hand. Time marches on.
